Free programme of mentoring training and supported mentoring
Starting the 13th of June 2007 – 9.30am to 1.00pm at the Valley Social Centre: Have you ever considered becoming a mentor? Would you like to develop your mentoring skills and be supported in a mentor/mentee relationship? Do you have the skills, experience or insight to support someone in the role of either a community leader or a learning champion? Then why not join the Working Together Project Mentoring Programme?
Through becoming a mentor you will develop skills, knowledge and a deeper understanding of:
- Different models of mentoring and their applications
- How people learn (learning styles)
- How to motivate, inspire and enable people to reflect
- Developing a mentor/mentee relationship including negotiating the rules of engagement, managing expectations, confidentiality, boundaries, periodic review, and endings
- Reflect on relationship between mentor and mentee (including review)
- How to challenge constructively and deal with any difficult situations
You will receive Mentoring Induction Training and regular support:
5 days of training on Wednesdays– 13th, 20th, 27th June, 4th & 11th July - 9.30am-1.00pm. At the Valley Social Centre, Whitehawk Way, Brighton.
Matching event – 18th July 2007 – 9.30am – 1pm – Valley Social Centre - with drinks and nibbles.
3 half-day facilitated peer group support sessions – 19th September 2007, 24th January & 26th June 2008 – 9.30am-1.30pm – Community Base, 113 Queens Road, Brighton.
The maximum expected commitment is 3 hours per month including the support sessions offered to mentors.
The Working Together Project are looking for people from all sectors – voluntary, public and private – to share their skills and experience.
